biography

I am one half of Witness Beats, and am a.k.a. DJ Marz.....
Witness Beats is a two-man army that is currently in the process of taking over the music scene in Fiji with a mix of mainly mainstream-oriented music, made just for the local Fijian people to enjoy. I am in charge of making the beats, producing/mastering the vocals and mixing them to the track and writing/recording the rap parts of the songs...

the other dude (aka Melo) sings and plays the guitar, and has also taught me alot about life's lessons, as well as some basic knowledge on the right keys and chords in songs.

together we form Witness Beats.

anyways, I make tracks using FL Studio, and record using Audition 1.5... We are looking to make music that is "island" in flavour; something that someone may easily groove, move and jive to.

the youth of Fiji have a unique taste in music, and really all that is the main attraction of a song to alot of these young people is the "dancability" of the track - just a consistent kick every quarter-beat and a "hihat crash" inbetween these kicks... boiled down, it is basic house music with all the electronic synth being replaced by real instruments, usually string instruments.

We want to add to this by creating music with lyrics that appeal to the youth just as much as the beats do.. that is the main pushing factor behind Witness Beats (an unsigned "band"), apart from the creation of the music itself being a source of much interest and passion for us.

The influences of Witness Beats are Hiphop, reggae and "tropical Jive", a sort of cross between reggaeton and house music.

I only want to improve my worth with the beats and (especially) the mastering, so i signed up on bandAMP!!

Another reggae/hiphop cross... but toooooo much effects on the percussion in the background; there is alot of excessive echo and reverb!!
please give feedback! this was our first ever song that we did together!!

a song we did for a friend, whose girlfriend was going to be going to Newzealand for uni..... all this stuff about their history and everything, with a fijian chorus... note how the chorus only comes in twice, but an english sort of bridge-thingy being sung in the middle, just to let the non-fijian speakers know whats going on...

we thought that the simpler the song's components, the trippier and moodier the song would be... but now im doubting that after hearing all this awesome stuff on bandAMP..

this is deserving of a "SHAME" rating, but please tell me what u think of the song.

this was made using a 1.8Ghz computer with 256mbRAM, and FL8 running on it as well as audition. we have used Autotune extensively, and total recording time adds up to about 15 hours, not counting work on the instrumental (all instruments in the song are vsti's)....
